BARHAM BAY - WITBANK
BARHAM BAY - WITBANK -
By Philip and Nakkie Theron:
20 - 22 January 2012
And so it happened - “Noordvaal” Region had a flying start.
BARHAM BAY - Yes what a beautiful place – close to the “Witbank” Dam with each site having its own little “Thatch” - The ablutions are very tidy and clean and there is even “Family Bathrooms”.
We left our home at 11h00 on Thursday the 19th Arriving at 13h00 together with one of our SIX little grandsons - by the way this was his first time to come along - “Kiano” who will turn 4 years old in March thoroughly enjoyed his time with us
The Power „Voltage“ was a bit of a „Schlep“ it hovered between 190 - 200v - In our case we had an on and off situation the whole weekend where our Motorhomes safety system kept on cutting out.
It was good to see Shirley and Jill – and our hearts and prayers are with them during this trying time in their lives.
A heated “Splash” pool at the outside bar with some “built in the water” stools for those who like to “kuier” and “water-chill” at the same time. An aviary and cold water “kiddies” pool with 2 small waterslides and a big outside coldwater pool is only some of the outstanding
Qualities of “Barham Bay”. Friday during the day we went together with little Kiano to the Cocktail-Bar-Pool and had a “Cocktail” that hit us between the eyes.
We had “sundowners” on a beautiful green open area next to the dam whilst the sun set in an array of colors whilst the other campers in the resort enjoyed water sports.
Sunday Morning church was held in front of the Motorhome of Boetie and Jill where there happened to be a lovely awning and was surrounded with a fence which made it nice and private - Boetie was so kind as to swing his Motorhome around so that we can easily accommodate the Service as well as the „Chairmans Tea“. A “Granchild” weekend was discussed and decided on for the Kareekloof weekend in March. It is with sadness that we had to learn of the “passing” of Heliott Botha wife of Japie Botha on the 22nd of January.
The only thing that put me “OFF” was the “Honey Suckle - Sucking Suzie” call it what you may to empty the “French Drain” right in from of our Motorhome for a good part of almost 3 hours Eish I have NO AIRFRESHNER left in my Motorhome.
An so we shall – with the grace of God see each other again – So therefore we say to all Keep Well - Bly Gesond!!
